Anzhi star talks up Arsenal switch; Milan interest in Dossena confirmed

Anzhi star talks up Arsenal switch

Anzhi midfielder Olid Ahmedov has admitted his interest in joining Arsenal, following speculations linking him with a move to the Emirates.

The 24-year-old midfielder, who was also used as a centre-back this season, has been one of the star performers in the Russian Premier League this season and was even voted Anzhi’s Player of the Year, ahead of Samuel Eto’o and Yuri Zhirkov.

Ahmedov was linked with Arsenal last summer and the Gunners appear to have reignited their interest in the captain of Uzbekistan national team.

The player explains he is happy at Anzhi, but admits he is tempted by the prospect of joining Arsenal.

“Of course I am very happy at Anzhi,” Ahmedov told reporters in Tashkent. “This club has a great future.

“But I would like to try in England or Spain. All clubs in Spain and England are wonderful but I would like to play for Arsenal.”

Ahmedov has been almost ever present for Anzhi this season, having featured in 43 Russian Premier League games.

Milan interest in Dossena confirmed

Milan have enquired about Napoli full-back Andrea Dossena, according to the player’s representative.

Rossoneri boss Maxi Allegri is not entirely satisfied with his left-back options that include Djamel Mesbah and Luca Antonini and it looks as though the talented boss is looking for a new left-sided player.

Milan were recently linked with a move for Napoli full-back Andrea Dossena, and the player’s agent now confirms the Italian giants are indeed interested.

“I had contact with Adriano Galliani as I also represent Stephan El Shaarawy, but inevitably we also talked about Dossena,” agent Roberto La Florio told Radio Sport 24.

“There has not been a formal offer, as we just discussed things.”

The 30-year-old managed to kick-start his career following a disappointing spell at Liverpool, but he has since fallen behind Jose Zuniga in the pecking order.

Dossena has, nonetheless, clocked up 33 Serie A appearances this season and scored two goals in the process.

Arouna Kone wants Premier League move

Levante striker Arouna Kone is interested in moving to English Premier League, according to AS.

The 28-year-old has kick-started his career at Levante following several injury-plagued seasons at Sevilla and he is now desperate to return to the biggest stage.

Following some scintillating performances in the last edition of La Liga and 15 goals in 34 games, the Ivorian has received numerous offers from abroad.

However, the mere fact he rejected several very lucrative proposals from China and Turkey proves that he is only interested in joining a big European club.

AS claims Kone would love to test his skills in English Premier League and has instructed his agent to act accordingly.

It is now almost certain that the Ivorian will leave Levante following a very successful season and his €5 million price tag makes the player even more appealing to top European sides.
