Arsenal challenge Monaco for Djibril Sidibe

Premier League giants Arsenal have made a late attempt to sign French full-back Djibril Sidibe from Lille, Le 10 Sport can reveal.

After having initial bid rejected, Monaco are on the verge of completing a deal as their €15 million offer was accepted, but now the Gunners are in the mix as well.

Arsenal are expected to submit an official proposal in the coming days, but the latest reports suggest that the Principality club should be the player’s next destination nonetheless.

Sidibe is quite happy with a five-year contract he has been offered by Monaco and he wants to help the club challenge for domestic trophies and compete in the Champions League.

Even though he made a name for himself by operating as left-back, the 23-year-old has made it clear that he would prefer to be used on the right hand side and he could have it his way at Stade Louis II if Fabinho leaves the club.
