Arsenal ready to move for Schar

Arsenal are ready to step up their efforts to sign Fabian Schar after the centre-back admitted that he is ready to swap Basel for one of the Premier League big hitters, the Express understands.

The Gunners are desperate for defensive cover, and will make bringing in numbers in that area a priority when the transfer window reopens.

They were linked with a move for Schar, who has been valued by his club at £10m, during the summer but were unable to strike a deal.

However, the 22 year old has now said that he would be keen to move to a top team in England, Germany or Italy with Arsenal believe to be winning the race to secure his services.

Schar has made seventeen appearances in all competitions for the Swiss Super League leaders so far this season, scoring his only goal in the 3-2 win at Thun back in August.
