AS Roma in talks for Gregoire Defrel

Italian giants AS Roma are stepping up their efforts to recruit French forward Gregoire Defrel from Sassuolo, Il Corriere dello Sport has suggested.

It is no secret that the Giallorossi aim to add another attack-minded footballer to their ranks seeing as how Mohamed Salah is due to take part at the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations.

And the latest reports suggest that AS Roma have made Sassuolo’s Gregoire Defrel their number one target ahead of the January transfer window.

The Giallorossi have already held several meetings with their Serie A rivals, and they hope to wrap up the deal as quickly as possible.

Even though the Neroverdi were initially against selling Defrel, they seem to have changed their minds following the disappointing start to the season and Europa League exit.

Capable of operating across a number of positions up front, the 25-year-old, who has 6 goals in 16 league matches this term, should be a very good addition to the squad at Stadio Olimpico.
