Turkish daily newspaper Fanatik has suggested that Aston Villa and Sporting CP are locked in the battle for Fenerbahce midfielder Raul Meireles.
The 33-year-old will be out of contract at the end of the current campaign and it appears he has set his sights on leaving.
The return to Portugal could be on the cards as Primeira Liga giants Sporting CP have shown a serious interest in his services.
Meanwhile, Premier League strugglers Aston Villa are also keen, although it remains to be seen whether Meireles would be prepared to play in the Championship next season.
The veteran midfielder, who played for Liverpool and Chelsea in the Premier League, has spent last four years at Fenerbahce, making 74 league appearances and scoring 5 goals.
Meireles has 73 Portugal caps to his name, but has yet to make his first appearance under new coach Fernando Santos, and is unlikely to represent Selecao at the Euro 2016 finals.
