Barca starlet set for summer exit

Barcelona youngster Alex Grimaldo has decided to leave Camp Nou when his contract comes to an end in the summer, Sport can reveal.

The 20-year-old had the opportunity to join Levante on loan this summer with an option to buy, but he rejected the move and decided to remain with Barcelona B.

The reason for this is that Grimaldo wants to leave on a free transfer at the end of the current season and thus command better personal terms.

Barcelona officials initially wanted the talented footballer to gain some top flight experience before considering the possibility of extending his contract, but they have now come to terms with losing the left sided defender at the end of the current campaign.

Alex Grimaldo is regarded by many as one of club’s hottest prospects and it is believed that several top sides from Portuguese Primeira Liga are showing interest in his services.
