Bayern Munich are hoping to keep outgoing manager Jupp Heynckes at the club in some capacity, club president Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has said.

Heynckes has led Bayern to one of their most successful seasons, winning both the Bundesliga and UEFA Champions League titles, and could yet add the DFB-Pokal crown to that list if they beat Stuttgart in the final on Saturday.

The Allianz Arena outfit will become the first-ever German side to do the treble if they overcome Bruno Labbadia’s men, and Rummenigge insisted the Bavarians are looking to keep Heynckes in Munich even after Pep Guardiola steps in as manager.
“I told him (Heynckes) two weeks ago at the Bundesliga title celebration that he has a kind of ‘Carte Blanche’ with us,” Rummenigge told Bild.

“If he can imagine it, we would like to keep him in some capacity at Bayern.”

Heynckes has been linked with a return to Real Madrid, and is certain to have plenty of managerial offers should he decide to leave Bayern.

Whatever the 68-year-old decides, though, Rummenigge is pleased the former Real and Benfica boss is departing the club as a hero.

“I have always told him, ‘Jupp, there are two ways to say goodbye at Bayern Munich: by the front door or out the back,” Rummenigge added.
“That’s why I am glad that Jupp will now leave out of the front door. People have huge respect for him and he is earning plenty of applause. There is no better farewell for him, he deserves it and I am very happy for him.”
