Blatter sends well wishes to Petrov

FIFA president Sepp Blatter has wished Aston Villa’s Stilian Petrov well in his battle with against cancer.

The 32-year-old is due to start treatment in London on Monday after being diagnosed with acute leukaemia.

The Bulgarian watched Villa’s 4-2 Premier League defeat at home against Chelsea on Saturday.

Both sets of supporters gave the midfielder a standing ovation in the 19th minute of the match, a tribute linked with the midfielder’s shirt number.

Blatter took to Twitter to express his well wishes.

“Very sad to hear about Stiliyan Petrov’s illness. Wish him strength in his fight to win this battle.”
