Borussia Moenchengladbach appear to have won the race to sign highly-rated forward Branimir Hrgota, according to Sky Sports.

The 19-year-old has been attracting the interest of Newcastle and Valencia, but the Bundesliga appears to be Hrgota’s most likely destination.

In fact, they player himself has already had a say on the potential move, suggesting that Borussia Moenchengladbach is a team that likes to ‘focus on young players’.

Speculation suggests that the youngster has signed a four-year-deal with the club, meaning he is ready to light up German football next season.

As for why he has been a striker in demand, Hrgota has scored an impressive 31 goals in 36 games for Jonkopings Sodra in Sweden. He appears to have a fantastic eye for goal and is a player with a massive future ahead of him.

For Borussia Moenchengladbach, goals were a slight problem last season – they scored 31 goals less than league title winners Borussia Dortmund – and they will be hopeful Hrgota can help them out.

Then, should he have a good first season in Germany, his pedigree and reputation could go even further than it is at the moment.

One of the most exciting young strikers in Europe, it will be fascinating to see how he does after this potentially massive move.
