Brazilian attacking midfielder Simplicio has joined AS Roma on a three-year contract worth 1.1 million euros a year, the club said on Tuesday.

Simplicio, who has previously played for Parma, was out of contract with Palermo at the end of last season following four successful years with the Sicilians.

“I’m delighted with this agreement and the experience awaiting me at Roma,” said the 30-year-old via his agent Gilmar Rinaldi.

Simplicio has played once for the Brazilian national team, last year, but is not part of the country’s World Cup squad.

“His Brazilian cap was decisive, as was the fact that many Brazilians play at Roma,” said Rinaldi.

There are already six Brazilians, including three goalkeepers, at Roma with a seventh out on loan and former Parma and Inter Milan striker Adriano also rumoured to be making his way to the Italian capital.
