Chelsea to bid for Luke Shaw

Chelsea are being linked with a January bid for Southampton starlet Luke Shaw, reports The Telegraph.

With Jose Mourinho dropping Ashley Cole and playing right-back Cesar Azpilicueta on the left, chances are the Blues will be signing a new left-back in January.

And The Telegraph understands that they have made Southampton defender Luke Shaw their number one target.

Chelsea will attempt to lure the youngster to Stamford Bridge as early as January, or at least reach an agreement to sign the player at the end of the season.

Even though Shaw is valued at £20 million by the Saints, the Blues are expected to break the bank to sign their target.

Following yet another slip-up in the league, Chelsea are desperate to get their title bid back on track, and are expected to spend heavily in January. At the moment, the Blues are priced at 7/2 for the league title.
