The Chilean miners who were miraculously rescued after more than two months trapped underground met the Manchester United squad on Monday.

The miners, who were trapped in a San Jose mine in northern Chile, were personally invited to Old Trafford by United director Sir Bobby Charlton.

They were introduced to manager Sir Alex Ferguson and the players at United’s training ground and took the opportunity to get some photos with some of the most famous footballers in the world.

The group will watch Monday’s top-of-the-table clash with Arsenal from the directors’ box.

The miners were dramatically rescued when, one by one, they were brought back to the surface in a capsule. Their rescue was televised live around the world and watched by millions.
