Danish keeper set for Liverpool trial

Viborg goalkeeper Kevin Ray Mendoza has joined Liverpool for a one-week trial, the Danish club announced on their official website.

Mendoza, 18, has been given a permission by his club to undergo a one-week trial at Anfield, where the Reds officials can get a closer look at the talented footballer.

The youngster, who will be training with Liverpool reserves, was delighted to have received an invitation from such a high-profile club.

“This is great. I am looking forward to it. It will be a great experience,” Mendoza said to club’s official website.

Kevin Ray Mendoza has come through the youth ranks at the second division side and was promoted to the senior set-up at the start of the current season.

He was handed his debut in November 2012, when he came off the bench for injured Martin Hansen.

The interesting thing is that Hansen, club’s first choice keeper, has been at Liverpool since 2006 to 2012, but failed to make a single appearance for the Reds.
