Atletico Madrid have warned their fans not to travel to Marseille for the Champions League tie on December 9 following the violence which marred the first clash between the two clubs earlier this season.
“I advise our supporters not to go in order to avoid any unfortunate consequences,” said Atletico president Enrique Cerezo.
“We simply want to play a good game of football and that the fans stay at home and watch the game on television. Marseille isn't an aggressive city and the fans are not aggressive.
“We are going to play football not to fight a war.”
Atletico were originally fined 150,000 euros and hit with a two-match stadium ban for Champions League matches after their fans appeared to chant racist insults during the fixture against the French side on October 1.
The fine was eventually halved with the stadium ban cut to one game instead.
The game in October also saw clashes between Spanish police and Marseille fans.
