Dortmund close in on Diouf; Mirallas urges Everton to sign Mertens, Chadli

Borussia Dortmund are stepping up their efforts to sign Hannover striker Mame Biram Diouf, according to Bild.

The Millionaires were believed to be lining up a move for the Senegalese striker as a replacement for Robert Lewandowski, but Bild has learned that Diouf will be signed even if the Polish striker decides to stay on for another season.

BVB chiefs are convinced the 25-year-old has got what it takes to succeed at Signal-Iduna Park and do not want to miss a great opportunity to sign him in the summer transfer window.

Namely, the former Manchester United forward has a contract until June 2014 at Hannover and he has already rejected a contract extension.

With that in mind, Bild believes the player would only cost €8 million in the summer, which is well within the price range of one of Europe’s richest clubs.

Borussia stand to earn around €40 million from this year’s Champions League campaign and chief Hans-Joachim Watzke has recently suggested the club will spend heavily in the summer transfer window.

Mirallas urges Everton to sign Mertens, Chadli

Everton star Kevin Mirallas has recommended his two international teammates to the Goodison Park outfit.

The Belgian international has enjoyed a brilliant start to his career in England and his impressive showings at Everton could help some of his international teammates make it to the Premier League as well.

Mirallas has moved to suggest the club chiefs should try and sign Eredivisie stars Dries Mertens and Nacer Chadli.

“I cannot say who Everton should sign, but there are some good Belgian players,” the 25-year-old told Het Nieuwsblad.

“Dries Mertens at PSV or Nacer Chadli from Twente, for example. Mertens is a left or right winger, and Chadli can play anywhere in midfield.

”They can make it in the Premier League for sure.”

Both players have been thoroughly impressive in Dutch Eredivisie this season, with Mertens scoring 12 goals and producing 13 assists, and Chadli scoring 7 goals in 14 league appearances.

Atletico keen on Sporting Lisbon hotshot

Spanish newspaper AS understands that Atletico Madrid are weighing up move for Sporting Lisbon forward Andre Carillo.

With the Champions League qualification already in the bag, los Colchoneros officials are already preparing the squad for the 2013/2014 season.

According to AS, the Vicente Calderon outfit are lining up a bid for Sporting Lisbon youngster Andre Carillo.

The 21-year-old has been closely monitored for a while now, and Atletico coaching staff seem convinced that the player has a bright future ahead of him.

Sporting are in a position that they won’t be able to reject a decent offer for the forward, and this could be a perfect opportunity to cash in on the player who is still not considered a first team regular.

Carillo arrived in Lisbon from Alianza Lima in the summer of 2011, but has since scored just 3 goals in 42 Primeira Liga appearances.

Atletico Madrid officials, nonetheless, rate the player highly and are keen to lure him to Vicente Calderon.

Well, Diouf isn’t that expensive so for them it’s not gonna be a big loss. But I still think they should invest their money and buy a high rated striker such as Dzeko who IMO seems to be the best choice.
