Dortmund rule out Reus exit; Morata set to leave Real Madrid

Borussia Dortmund have ruled out the possibility of star forward Marco Reus leaving the club during the summer transfer window.

Borussia Dortmund have ruled out the possibility of star forward Marco Reus leaving the club during the summer transfer window.

Reus, a reported target of Manchester United, has been linked with a summer move but speculation regarding the future of the Germany international has cooled off considerably since last month.

However, fresh reports have suggested that Spanish giants FC Barcelona have already agreed personal terms with Reus.

In an attempt to rubbish the aforementioned rumour, BVB sporting director Michael Zorc told Bild: “I can definitely rule out a transfer this summer.”

Reus, who has a €35million release clause — which can be triggered next summer — in his current deal, is contracted to Signal Iduna Park until 30 June 2017.

Morata set to leave Real Madrid

Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has confirmed Spain youth international striker Alvaro Morata will leave the club when the transfer window re-opens in July.

Morata, 21, was not allowed to join Arsenal on loan in January but the player is now seeking regular first-team football, which is unattainable in the Spanish capital due to the presence of BBC — Bale, Benzema and Cristiano Ronaldo.

“The player has decided to leave in search of more minutes and the club has agreed it,” said Ancelotti.

“If he gets the chance to play it will be good for him to have those opportunities for a year.”

The impending exit of Morata, who is reportedly attracting interest from Arsenal, Juventus and VfL Wolfsburg, has fueled speculation linking Real Madrid with a summer swoop for Liverpool star Luis Suarez but Ancelotti has played down such reports.

“It is difficult to improve what we have in attack,” added the Italian supremo.

“Suarez is a fantastic player but it would be a lack of respect to talk about signings at this stage.”

BBC bagged a remarkable tally of 101 goals in all competitions for the European champions last term.

Sidwell joins Stoke City

Former Chelsea and Fulham midfielder Steve Sidwell has penned a two-year deal with Stoke City following the Cottagers relegation to the Sky Bet Championship.

Sidwell, 31, was released by Fulham at the end of last season and will officially join the Potters on 1 July.

The 31-year-old is absolutely delighted with the move, and rightfully so.

“It didn’t take long for me to make my mind up once I knew Stoke City were chasing me, it was an easy decision to make,” Sidwell told Sky Sports.

“A big factor was the manager Mark Hughes and his team. I worked for them before at Fulham, and with Eddie Niedzwiecki at Arsenal when I was a youngster, so I knew what I was going to be getting day to day from them and obviously the club itself, it’s a club that I’ve respected for many years.

“Coming up to the Britannia and playing there has always been a hard game, but to be coming out there as the home team will be a big buzz.

“There were a few offers but once I sat down and looked at the options in front of me and the people around me this was the only one for the whole package really.

“Football wise, I know what I’m going to be getting from the manager, the team itself has got some fantastic players and I can see the direction and the progress the club wants to make.”

Sidwell scored seven goals in 28 English Premier League appearances for Fulham in 2013/14.
