El Shaarawy gives Allegri vote of confidence; Di Maria hails Mourinho

AC Milan standout Stephan El Shaarawy has given manager Massimiliano Allegri a vote of confidence following the Rossoneri’s 2-0 victory over Cagliari.

El Shaarawy, who bagged a match-winning brace against the Rossoblu on Wednesday, has started all five Serie A matches for the Italian giants in 2012-13.

“Allegri is putting a lot of trust in me, he is making me play a lot this season,” El Shaarawy told reporters.

“I’m young, but I try to give my all in every game and I think that I did well today. We had the right spirit today on the pitch, we started looking for a goal from the beginning.”

The 19-year-old joined Milan from Genoa in June 2011. He tallied four goals and two assists in 28 appearances (11 starts) for the Rossoneri during his debut season.

El Shaarawy dedicated Milan’s second victory of the season to his boss and the club’s supporters, and rightfully so.

“The victory is for Allegri and the fans,” added the Italy international. “We are with him, he has our trust.

“I’m happy because of today’s victory. It will give us a lot of morale for the next games.”

Milan have started their 2012-13 campaign with just two wins in six competitive matches, including two 1-0 home defeats to Atalanta and newly promoted Sampdoria.

In fact, it took Massimiliano Allegri’s side over 285 minutes to open their account at the San Siro. Surely it’s safe to assume that the Rossoneri are suffering the side effects of losing the likes of Zlatan Ibrahimović and Antonio Cassano during the summer.

All things considered, Milan will find it very hard to compete with Juventus for the Serie A title in 2012-13, with the Old Lady having gone 44 league matches without defeat.

Juventus were last beaten in the league on 15 May 2011, when they lost 1-0 to Parma at the Stadio Ennio Tardini. Sebastian Giovinco, who is on Juventus’ books at the moment, bagged the winner for the Gialloblù, who denied the Bianconeri a place in the UEFA Europa League.

Di Maria hails Mourinho

Argentina winger Angel Di Maria believes that Real Madrid boss Jose Mourinho has molded him into the player he is today.

“The day he told me to come, I was at the World Cup and I wasn’t doing very well but he kept trying and I think that most of what I am doing today is thanks to him and I try to repay that with hard work every day,” revealed Di Maria.

Since arriving at the Estadio Santiago Bernabéu in 2010, Di Maria has put together back-to-back sensational seasons for Los Blancos.

After bagging six goals and 11 assists in 35 appearances during his debut season with the Spanish giants, the Argentina international tallied five goals and 15 assists in just 23 league matches last term.

Expect another solid season for Di Maria in 2012-13.
