Enner Valencia attracting interest; Wolfsburg rule out move for Mario Mandzukic

C.F. Pachuca vice president Andres Fassi has admitted that striker Enner Valencia may leave the Liga MX side this summer.

C.F. Pachuca vice president Andres Fassi has admitted that striker Enner Valencia may leave the Liga MX side this summer.

The Ecuador international, 25, has impressed many at the World Cup finals in Brazil, netting three goals in two games against Switzerland and Honduras.

His recent purple patch of form has caught the eye of several English Premier League clubs, including the likes of Everton, Newcastle, and Tottenham Hotspur and Fassi has confirmed that offers are already coming in for the 25-year-old ace.

“Enner Valencia’s value increases every day. We don’t know if he will stay, it will be hard given the offers we have received,” Fassi said.

“The options that a great player at this level gets are to be taken into account. But for now he has to keep doing things right.

“No doubt it would hurt us to let Enner Valencia go, but we are realistic about his quality.

“I don’t want to name a team, we want to respect the sporting moment of the player and of his national team.”

Valencia, who joined Pachuca from Ecuadorian Serie A champions Club Sport Emelec in 2014, has also been linked with Portuguese giants F.C. Porto, who signed Colombian striker Jackson Martínez from Mexican side Chiapas for $11 million in the summer of 2012.

Wolfsburg rule out move for Mario Mandzukic

WfL Wolfsburg sporting director Klaus Allofs has rubbished reports linking the club with a summer swoop for Mario Mandzukic, insisting that rumours suggesting the club are in talks with the Bayern Munich striker are false.

The Croatian talisman, who bagged a brace against Cameroon at the World Cup earlier this week, is no longer needed at the Allianz Arena following the arrival of Robert Lewandowski from Borussia Dortmund via free transfer.

Mandzukic, formerly of Dinamo Zagreb and Wolfsburg (2010-2012), is also attracting interest from clubs in England and Italy, and rightly so.

“It’s just a false announcement, there is no truth to it in the slightest,” Allofs told Sport1.

“I think our board of directors have already said what needs to be said about it: we have not had any contact with the player.”

Mandzukic — averaging a ridiculous 11.80 fantasy points per game in DraftGods.com’s World Cup fantasy game and priced at 15/8 to score at anytime against Mexico — tallied 18 goals and four assists in 30 Bundesliga appearances, including 21 starts, for Bayern Munich in 2013/14.

In other news, Hull City A.F.C. have completed the signing of Jake Livermore from Tottenham Hotspur F.C. for an undisclosed fee, per a message on the club’s official Twitter feed.
