A goal by defender Dave Bulthuis proved to be the difference between the sides in Friday’s clash at Parkstad Limburg Stadion.
Bulthuis struck in the 34th minute with the 22-year-old’s second goal of the season proving decisive as Utrecht maintained their strong start, moving to fourth on 11 points, four behind leaders Twente.
Utrecht, unbeaten in their past five matches, earned their second away win of the campaign as they moved from eighth to fourth.
Roda have won just once this season to lie 13th with just four points.
