Genoa have confirmed the signing of Senegal international Moussa Konate on a season-long loan.

Konate will move from FC Krasnodar, with the Serie A side having the right to buy him at the end of the campaign.

The 20-year-old scored four goals in five games for his country during the Olympics, alerting clubs such as West Ham and Southampton to the striker.

However, Konate, who has also enjoyed stints at Toure Kunda de Mbour and Maccabi Tel Aviv, has now agreed to join Davide Ballardini’s side.

“Konate has already passed a medical and will start with the team for the pre-season retreat in Neustift im Stubaital (Austria),” Genoa said in a statement on their website.

Ligue 1 outfit Bordeaux had also been credited with an interest in the forward, who has represented his country at under-20 and under-23 levels.
