Arsenal are reportedly chasing QPR custodian Julio Cesar, to complement Polish shot-stoppers Wojciech Szczesny and Lukasz Fabianski.
Cesar – on national duty with Brazil at the Confederations Cup in his homeland – is being watched by scouts from the Emirates Stadium, and could come cheap for an estimated 1.5-million-pound fee.
The 33-year-old should be keen for a reprieve back into the Premier League, after his Rangers were relegated in May, and would not have to move out of London if he joined Arsene Wenger’s side.
Cesar is a much cheaper option for Arsenal than chasing Pepe Reina or Asmir Begovic from Liverpool and Stoke respectively, with the pair likely to cost suitors in excess of 10m pounds.
The Brazilian has laid claims for a possible return to Roma in the Serie A, but also forecast a resolution to his contract talks at the end of the Confederations Cup.
