Hamburg could sell Nigel de Jong in the next few hours. Manchester City are close to a deal for the 24-year-old, valued at £15m. De Jong spent four years at Ajax before moving to Hamburg in the summer of 2006. He has played 30 times for Holland.
City signed De Jong’s former midfield partner Vincent Kompany from Hamburg last summer. Now, after failing in bids to sign Scott Parker and Lassana Diarra, Mark Hughes is set to sign the Dutch.
