Borussia Dortmund forward Marco Reus is to miss Sunday’s Revierderby against Schalke at Signal Iduna Park due to a hamstring problem sustained against Qabala in the Europa League.
The Germany international was forced off at half-time during Thursday’s 4-0 home win, having opened the scoring, as Dortmund qualified for the last 32 of the competition.
Coach Thomas Tuchel initially confirmed the 26-year-old was doubtful for the weekend’s visit of rivals Schalke, with Dortmund stating on Friday that Reus will probably be out of action for around a fortnight.
The injury is all but certain to rule him out of Joachim Low’s plans for Germany’s friendlies against France and Netherlands during the international break next week.
Dortmund added in a statement that Reus is likely to make his return to action against Hamburg in the Bundesliga on November 20.
