New Swansea City manager Bob Bradley says the fans are “the lifeblood” of the club and his squad must play for them every time they take to the field.

Bradley, former head coach of the United States and Egypt, was appointed manager on Monday following the sacking of Francesco Guidolin.

Since an opening-day win at Burnley, Swansea have taken just one point from six Premier League outings, with some fans feeling Guidolin was hard done by, with performances beginning to improve over the past couple of weeks.

And Bradley acknowledges the relationship between the supporters and the team is the most important at any club.

“I am very proud and honoured to be the manager of Swansea City. It is a club I have incredible respect for,” he said. “We have passionate supporters and I certainly understand what the Jack Army is all about.

“The fans are the lifeblood of every team. I remind players every day that when you step on the pitch that you must always understand all of the people who love the club and come rain or shine stand behind the colours.

“For me, the number one responsibility you have as a manager and as players is to make the fans feel proud. The connection between the club and community, and the passion with the supporters is so important.

“I will work hard every single day to make sure we step onto the pitch and remember how much our team means to our supporters.

“I want a team that works unselfishly and hard, and is committed to playing football in the right way and winning.

“My job as the leader in all of this is to challenge the players every day to find the right ways to encourage and to be positive.”
