Borussia Dortmund defender Mats Hummels is “annoyed” by the manner of Mario Goetze’s departure to Bayern Munich.

The Bavarian club will officially secure the 21-year-old’s signature on July 1 having met his €37 million buy-out clause and agreed terms prior to their UEFA Champions League final meeting with Dortmund.

But Hummels does not understand why his fellow Germany international would make such a switch.

“Everybody could see how good our team is,” he said. “I just don’t think there was or is any reason in sporting terms to leave us.

“You could see how our team had developed and Mario got on so well with many, which is why it annoyed me so much that he made up his mind that he had to leave so soon.”

Bayern Munich enjoyed a treble success last season, beating Dortmund to both the Champions League and Bundesliga crowns before going on to lift the DFB-Pokal Cup.

Goetze, meanwhile, enjoyed his most prolific campaign for Juergen Klopp’s men, netting 16 goals in 44 appearances.
