Italian giants vying for Van Persie

Daily Mail understands that a number of Italy’s top sides are showing interest in Manchester United striker Robin van Persie.

It is slowly becoming clear that the Dutchman has no future at Old Trafford and he is being tipped with a summer exit.

According to the Daily Mail, the Red Devils are even prepared to allow the experienced forward to leave the club on a free transfer, one year before his contract is due to expire.

Should he become a free agent, the likes of Juventus, Inter and Lazio will attempt to lure him to Italian Serie A.

Robin van Persie enjoyed a great start to his career at Old Trafford, scoring 26 goals to help United lift the Premier League title in his first season at the club.

He has since bagged another 22 Premier League goals, but also missed quite a few important matches through a succession of injuries.
