Jaaskelainen hopeful of new deal

Veteran goalkeeper Jussi Jaaskelainen is hoping to earn a new deal at West Ham United, Sky Sports understands.

The former Finland international, who turns 39 in April, is set to be out of contract at the end of the season but has no plans to call time on his playing career.

He has played all seven of the Hammers league games so far this season, keeping four clean sheets in the process.

Manager Sam Allardyce took him to Upton Park last summer, having worked with him during his eight years at Bolton Wanderers.

With 416 games in the English top flight, he is tenth in the list of all-time appearances of those still playing in the Premier League.

West Ham currently thirteenth in the Premier League ahead of Saturday afternoon’s visit of Manchester City, and the hosts are priced at a very generous 8/1 to win the match without conceding.
