(GSM) – Bayer Leverkusen’s German striker, Stefan Kiessling, has committed to the BayArena giants by extending his contract with the club until 2015.
The Bundesliga’s top scorer has signed a more lucrative deal, despite having more than two years remaining on his previous contract.
The 26-year-old, who has netted 16 goals so far this term, arrived at Leverkusen in 2006 from FC Nürnberg and is optimistic about his future at the club.
“My family and I are very happy in Leverkusen and the club has excellent long-term potential,” he said.
“Therefore, there is no reason for me to change anything.”
With his current form notwithstanding, Kiessling is expected to be part of Joachim Low’s squad for the World Cup this summer, leaving Leverkusen director of sport, Wolfgang Holzhauser, feeling proud to have such a player in his squad.
“We are extremely happy that, with Stefan Kiessling, we will continue to have one of the best German strikers among our ranks,” he said.
“We had been in agreement for a while, and now we have concluded the formalities.”
