Lazio are weighing up a summer move for Sevilla midfielder Ivan Rakitic, according to Il Corriere dello Sport.

The Biancocelesti are somewhat short of options in the centre of the park and they are looking to sign at least another high-profile midfielder in the summer transfer window.

Il Corriere dello Sport understands that Stadio Olimpico outfit have made Sevilla’s Ivan Rakitic their number one target.

The 25-year-old has a contract until June 2014 at Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan and is reportedly looking for a new challenge.

Rakitic has been disappointed by the club’s downtrend in fortunes this season and is eager to leave at the end of the current campaign.

Being in a very difficult financial situation, Sevilla are prepared to cash in on their star player, with los Rojiblancos requesting €10 million for the player’s services.

Ivan Rakitic has been one of team’s star performers this season, scoring 5 goals and producing 7 assists in 23 La Liga fixtures.

Negredo hints at summer exit

Sevilla star Alvaro Negredo has added fuel to speculations linking him with a summer move away from Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan.

The Spain international is enjoying one of the best seasons in his career and has been the subject of admiring glances from Europe’s top clubs.

A number of Premier League giants are keeping close tabs on the player, who admits that he could be leaving Sevilla in the summer.

“If the president does not want to sell, there are other players who can go,” Negredo explained to reporters.

“He will choose the best option for the club and when I do go, it will be because he finds it the right thing to do. I am calm about it.”

Sevilla chiefs are forced to sell several star players in the summer in order to balance the books, and everything suggests Negredo will be the first one to leave.

The 27-year-old has developed into one of La Liga’s most prolific goalscorers during his time at Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan, having bagged 60 goals in 127 La Liga appearances for los Rojiblancos.
