Lazio ponder Aogo swoop

Italian newspaper Il Corriere dello Sport reports that Lazio are readying bid for Hamburg defender Dennis Aogo.

The Biancocelesti are satisfied with their midfield and attack, but they are still searching for defensive reinforcements.

As far as the centre-back position is concerned, Lazio have turned their attention to Uruguayan defender Alexis Rolin, after the failed attempt to sign Andreas Granqvist from Genoa.

Meanwhile, the Biancocelesti have identified Hamburg’s Dennis Aogo as their number one target for the left-back position and are expected to step up their interest in the Germany international.

The 25-year-old recently admitted he was disappointed by the fans’ criticism of the national team following the under-par showing at the 2012 European Championship and that could see him leave German Bundesliga in the summer transfer window.

The prospect of playing alongside international teammate Miroslav Klose is also appealing to the player who is valued at €6 million.
