A narrow win at Belenenses in Portugal’s capital city allowed Leixoes Matosinhos to move into shared first place with Nacional Funchal and Sporting Lisbon.

The first 75 minutes went by scoreless, but Leixoes then finally got the goal they needed as Braga beat the opposing goalkeeper for 0-1.

The Matosinhos outfit, who finished 14th in the 2007-08 league and only just avoided relegation, now have nine points from the first three games.

Nacional Funchal and Sporting Lisbon have the same amount, but a slightly better goal record.

The only two unbeaten teams after four rounds are FC Porto and Benfica, but both were held to two draws, leaving them trailing the three leaders.
