Ligue 1 star denies failing Liverpool medical

Rennes midfielder Sylvain Marveaux has moved to deny claims that his failed transfer to Liverpool had anything to do with him failing a medical at Anfield.

The French midfielder was widely tipped to join the Reds when his contract expires at the end of the season, but it looks as though the transfer has been called off.

“I do not want to go into details, but if I have not signed for Liverpool it was because there was a contractual disagreement between the parties on Thursday night,” Marveaux told L’Equipe.

The highly rated midfielder also moved to reject speculation that he was unable to pass a medical at Anfield.

“I am in good health and fit to play. I resumed training with Rennes at the end of last season and I could have played the final game if the club had wanted me to.

”It disgust me to read things like this because I know it can affect the remainder of my career. Today I can commit to undergo a medical before you and you will see there are no problems.”
