A last-minute winner from Tulio de Melo helped Lille retain top spot in Ligue 1, while second-place Paris Saint-Germain also won.

Lille were unable to break down Arles at the Parc des Sports, and with the clock running down the bottom side appeared to have done enough to gain a valuable point from the league leaders.

Cue the intervention of Brazilian substitute de Melo, who delivered a devastating blow to the strugglers when he headed home a winning goal with almost the last action of the game.

PSG remain one point behind Lille after beating Valenciennes 2-1 away from home.

The visitors went in front courtesy of a Nene strike two minutes into the second half at the Stade Nungesser, but substitute Vincent Aboubakar looked to have secured a draw for the hosts with an 82nd minute equaliser.

But Nene struck again just two minutes later to secure victory for PSG.

Lorient piled further pressure on second-bottom Lens with a 3-0 win at the Stade du Moustoir, with second-half goals from Morgan Amalfitano, Lynel Kitambala and Arnold Mvuemba doing the damage.

A 74th minute strike from Andre Luiz helped Nancy to a 1-0 win over Sochaux at the Stade Marcel Picot.

In other matches, there were 0-0 draws in Montpellier’s trip to Brest and Caen’s match at home to Nice.
