Ligue 1 Wrap: Paris Saint-Germain go top, Lille extend run

Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Edinson Cavani each scored twice as Paris Saint-Germain went top of Ligue 1 with a 4-0 win over Bastia.

Cavani replaced Ibrahimovic for the second half, and he ensured that PSG would preserve their unbeaten start, the Uruguayan rounding Mickael Landreau at the end of a slaloming run to net the hosts’ third, before wrapping things up from the penalty spot after Lucas Digne had been fouled in the area.

Lille stay third after they extended their unbeaten run to five matches, Rene Girard making a triumphant return to former club Montpellier as his new side secured a 1-0 win.

Defender Pape Souare scored the only goal of the game, the full-back heading in from Florent Balmont’s delivery to seal the points.

Surprise package Nantes are just a point behind Lille as American attacking midfielder Alejandro Bedoya scored three minutes from time to stretch the newly promoted side’s winning streak to four matches with a 1-0 triumph at Ajaccio.

Meanwhile, Valenciennes moved off the bottom after they came from two goals down to earn a 2-2 draw with Rennes in Ariel Jacobs’ first game in charge.

The visitors looked to be on their way to their eighth defeat of the campaign when winger Foued Kadir scored a double for Rennes, but a goal from striker Anthony Le Tallec and a long-range effort from midfielder Marco da Silva ensured a share of the spoils.

Elsewhere, Guingamp staged a superb fightback to win 2-1 at Evian, Thibault Giresse and Ladislas Douniama turning things around for Jocelyn Gourvennec’s men after Nicolas Benezet had put the hosts ahead.
