Premier League giants Liverpool are set to complete the signing of Dutch midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum from Newcastle United, Sky Sports can reveal.
The same source has suggested that the Reds had a £25 million bid accepted for the attacking midfielder, thus beating AS Roma to the player’s signature.
Wijnaldum has yet to agree personal terms with the Anfield outfit, but that is unlikely to be a problem considering that the midfielder is eager to leave Newcastle United for greener pastures.
The 25-year-old was one of just a few bright spots in an otherwise largely disappointing campaign for the Magpies and no wonder he has been in high demand this summer.
Wijnaldum managed impressive 11 goals and 5 assists in his debut Premier League season and with Stoke City set to sign Joe Allen, Jurgen Klopp appears to have secured a perfect replacement for the Welshman, with new boy Marko Grujic also showing plenty of potential during pre-season.
