Liverpool ponder move for Championship goal machine

Liverpool are looking to bid for Reading striker Shane Long, according to Daily Mail.

The Reds have been tracking the 24-year-old for quite a while now and they have recently sent their scouts to check on the player’s progress.

The Liverpool scouts watched Long score a brace against Northampton at the weekend and they are likely to have delivered positive reports.

The player who scored 28 goals last season is also a target for West Bromwich and Everton, but the two clubs have yet to make a formal bid for the striker.

West Ham, on the other hand, had a £6 million bid rejected for the 24-year-old, meaning that Liverpool will need to better that offer if they want to get their man.

With David Ngog set to complete his move to Bolton, the Reds have an opening in attack and they believe Shane Long would be a good addition to the squad.
