Lorenzo Tonelli undergoes Napoli medical

Empoli defender Lorenzo Tonelli is set to complete a move to Stadio San Paolo as he is currently undergoing a medical in Rome.

According to Sky Sport Italia, the 26-year-old will join the Azzurri in a deal worth €10 million, with another €2 million depending on performance related bonuses.

While the deal has yet to be made official, it is only a matter of time before Tonelli is announced as a new Napoli footballer, with the centre-back undergoing a medical at the Villa Stuart clinic in Rome.

Tonelli will become yet another former Empoli footballer to be reunited with coach Maurizio Sarri at Stadio San Paolo, following in the footsteps of Mirko Valdifiori and Elseid Hysaj.

Lorenzo Tonelli, who was also linked with a summer move to Lazio, has spent his entire career up to date at Empoli, making a total of 163 league appearances and scoring no fewer than 14 goals.
