Lyon agree deal for Metz starlet

Ligue 1 giants Lyon are set to complete the signing of French attacker Gnaly Maxwell Cornet from Metz, according to L’Equipe.

The media outlet has learned that the two sides have agreed on a €400,000 transfer fee, with the deal set to be made official later in the day.

With Cornet out of contract in the summer and not prepared to sign a new deal at Stade Saint-Symphorien, Metz had no choice but to cash in on the youngster.

The 18-year-old has already showed a great deal of potential, making 14 league appearances for les Grenats last season.

Cornet was, however, dropped from the senior side as he refused to extend his deal with the club and failed to feature in a single league game this term.

The youngster has now been snatched by the Ligue 1 leaders Lyon, who can be backed at 4/1 to win the league trophy.
