Lyon agree deal for talented striker

French media outlet L’Equipe understands that Lyon are on the verge of signing talented forward Jean-Philippe Mateta from Chateauroux.

Les Gones failed in their attempt to agree a deal during the summer transfer window, but they appear to have made things right.

L’Equipe claims that Lyon have agreed to pay €5 million for the 19-year-old footballer, with the youngster set to sign a five-year deal at Parc OL.

Minor details are still left to be sorted, but everything suggests Mateta will become Lyon’s first signing of the winter transfer window.

After bagging 11 league goals for Chateauroux last season, the youngster has now bagged 5 goals in his last 3 appearances for the club, and he clearly did enough to persuade Lyon to make their interest concrete.

Les Gones are reportedly set to sign free agent Emmanuel Adebayor, who has been without a club since leaving Crystal Palace in June.
