Florent Malouda has passed a medical at Trabzonspor as he edges closer to joining the Turkish club on a free transfer.

The 33-year-old midfielder is searching for pastures new after being released by Chelsea last month when his contract expired following a six-year spell at Stamford Bridge.

Malouda’s Chelsea career highlights included appearing in the victorious 2012 UEFA Champions League final against Bayern Munich and winning the the Premier League title, as well as the FA Cup three times.

The France international moved to the Stamford Bridge outfit from Lyon in 2003 and has amassed over 500 appearances for club and country.

Trabzonspor finished ninth in the Super Lig last season, some 25 points adrift of champions Galatasaray.

West Brom, managed by former Chelsea assistant manager Steve Clarke, were reported to be keen to keep Malouda in England, but the player has instead opted to head to Turkey.
