Early on Sunday it emerged that Manchester United could be interested in French international, Karim Benzema. But, the striker is not the only high-profile player that Sir Alex Ferguson is looking at. According to the Manchester Evening News, The Red Devils could be ready to launch a bid to bring Brazilan right-back, Daniel Alves to Old Trafford.
Alves has been an inspirational figure in Sevilla’s success over these past few years, but now both club and player know it is time to move on. Sevilla president Jose Maria Del Nido revealed that he had £20 million offers for the player last week. But he is though to be holding out for a bid in the region of £25 million.
“Many English and Italian clubs have asked after his availability but we have rejected a number of offers.” Said Del Nido
“And we have rejected offers of more than 25m euro.
“Seville will not reduce the player’s value as we do not need the money.
“However, we will not reject offers when there is a chance to grow as a team.”
Manchester United have two senior players who can play in the right-back position: Gary Neville and Wes Brown. However Neville has been injured for more than a year while Wes Brown is not as dangerous going forward as Daniel Alves would be.
