Marseille close on Javi Manquillo

Ligue 1 outfit Marseille are expected to complete a loan deal for Atletico Madrid full-back Javi Manquillo, AS has learned.

After making just three league appearances for los Colchoneros last term, the 20-year-old will be farmed out on loan this summer in order to gain valuable first team experience.

And while La Liga sides Getafe, Rayo Vallecano, Celta Vigo and Elche are all keen, it appears Manquillo will be moving to France instead.

Namely, Marseille are eager to recruit the talented footballer and they are currently in talks with his employers.

With the youngster looking forward to working under Marcelo Bielsa and Atletico perfectly satisfied with Stade Velodrome being his next destination, a season-long loan should be agreed in the coming days.

Javi Manquillo remains regarded as one of club’s hottest prospects, but he has so far managed mere 6 La Liga outings for the Vicente Calderon outfit.
