Mascherano in talks with Internazionale

(GSM) – Liverpool’s Javier Mascherano is in talks to join Internazionale, according to his agent Marco Piccioli. Speculation has mounted that the Liverpool midfielder will reunite with new Nerazzurri boss Rafael Benitez.

Benitez is believed to have asked the Italian club to sign Mascherano and the Argentina captain is said to be interested in the move because of his good relationship with Benitez.

Mascherano has been linked with a move to Barcelona last summer but the Catalan giants have turned their attention to Arsenal skipper Cesc Fabregas. However, Mascherano, 25, is close to joining the Italian champions as his agent claims the player is evaluating an offer from the club.

“There has already been a first contact with director Marco Branca,” Piccioli told ITASportPress.

“We are evaluating the move hard and in the next few days we will have a new meeting to better establish the details of this transfer deal.”
