Mathieu Flamini linked with Marseille return

Ligue 1 strugglers Marseille are showing interest in Crystal Palace midfielder Mathieu Flamini, according to France Football.

OM chiefs are desperate to reinforce the squad after a disappointing start to the season, and they appear to have reignited the interest in their former footballer.

Marseille attempted to recruit Flamini last summer, but the veteran footballer eventually decided to join Crystal Palace.

That proved a poor decision as the 32-year-old went on to make just two substitute appearances in the Premier League for the Eagles, and chances are that he will be on the move in the winter.

Born in Marseille, Mathieu Flamini had come through the youth ranks at Stade Velodrome, but then broke a verbal agreement with then manager Jose Anigo to join Arsenal on a free transfer.

This could be an opportunity for the Frenchman to make amends at OM, arguably one of world’s most colourful clubs.
