Competition: Premier League
Market: Pochettino to become next Tottenham manager
Odds: 8/11 @ William Hill
With Tottenham manager Tim Sherwood having been sacked from his role with the club yesterday, Southampton’s Mauricio Pochettino has been tipped to replace him for next season.
Southampton could be picked apart this summer. Their top performing players Luke Shaw and Adam Lallana have been linked with moves to Manchester United & Liverpool respectively, while their manager looks likely to leave if the sale of their two most influential players is allowed.
As a result, William Hill are giving odds of 8/11 for Pochettino to become the next manager of Tottenham Hotspur. He enjoyed a fantastic campaign with Southampton in 2013/14, leading the Saints to a record-high eighth-placed finish.
Tottenham will be appointing their third manager in less than a year, with Andres Villas-Boas being the man in charge at the start of the season, but losing his job midway through following a run of poor results.
Sherwood delivered Europa League football for next season and had the Londoners reach the third round of the Europa League this campaign with a side nowhere near full strength. But it wasn’t enough to keep his job.
