The season of Chicago Fire striker Brian McBride may have come to an end after underdoing shoulder surgery.

McBride formed an important part of Fire’s team this season, but had been struggling with the injury ever since joining at the beginning of the year.

“He has been a warrior and has been fighting through it,” coach Denis Hamlett told MLSnet.com.

McBride, who is expected to be out for three to four months, joined the MLS side after four years at Premier League club Fulham where he scored 40 goals in 153 appearances.
