Sunderland winger James McClean has praised the club’s fans for their support in Saturday’s 1-0 win against Everton.

The Stadium of Light outfit won two matches in a row for the first time in 2013 on Saturday, following up a 3-0 derby win at Newcastle United with another success against Everton.
Stephane Sessegnon’s first-half strike was all that separated the two sides as a crowd of more than 44,000 fans got behind Paulo Di Canio’s side.
McClean, who has become a regular for the
club in recent times, was eager to praise the impact the supporters had in
helping him and his team-mates clinch the three points.

“When the fans pack out the stadium like that
it gives you an extra lift. They drove us on,” McClean told Sunderland’s official website.

“There were
points in the game where you could feel your legs going, then you heard the
crowd roar you on and it helped you keep going. They’re a great credit
to the club.”

Sunderland sit
14th in the Premier League table following their recent upturn in
fortunes and sit six points above the relegation zone.
