Fiorentina midfielder Alberto Aquilani says it would be ‘ridiculous’ if Juventus fail to win Serie A after their heavy spending.

Juve remained unbeaten in the league last term as they cruised to the domestic title, while they once more sit atop of the table this season.

Aquilani is not too impressed with Juve’s success as he believes it is all the result of financial investment.

“I think Juventus will win the Scudetto. But then again, when you spend 200 million euros, you are going to win something sooner or later,” Aquilani told Corriere dello Sport.

“It would be ridiculous if the opposite happened.”

The midfielder also spoke about AC Milan and Inter, and pointed out that their struggles are partially down to their unimpressive transfer dealings.

“You always have high expectations from clubs like them. They are going through a difficult time, though, also because their transfers have been less impressive than in recent years,” Aquilani said.

Aquilani’s Fiorentina have been one of the surprise packages of the season and sit fourth in the league.
