AC Milan midfielder Riccardo Montolivo is confident the club will soon return to winning ways, comparing them to Italy ahead of Euro 2012.

Milan have been in disappointing form in the opening rounds of the 2012/13 campaign, and have received their fair share of criticism.

Another tough task awaits on Wednesday as they take on Zenit St Petersburg, but Montolivo remains unfazed by the criticism, and is looking to get back on track in Wednesday’s Champions League Group C encounter in Russia.

“You can see the same cynical attitude towards Milan in the past few games that there was toward the national team before the Euros,” Montolivo said at a press conference.

“In that case we came out of it by listening to our coach and by believing in ourselves, and we have to do the same thing here.

“Milan are not the team people make us out to be. We feel responsible for our start this season and we want to make up for it in Europe.”
