Inter Milan President Massimo Moratti has revealed that he did not want to sign Ricardo Quaresma in the summer.

Moratti says he signed Quaresma in order to appease new coach Jose Mourinho, who wanted to sign the highly rated Portuguese midfielder.

“I will confess that the Portuguese international’s arrival wasn’t down to my desire,” Moratti admitted.

“However, it was a decision that was made in order to avoid leaving holes in Mourinho’s tactical plans.

“But now we will have to sell somebody and that won’t be easy because of the high wages that our players earn.”

This is the first time Moratti has admitted that he had doubts over the transfer. Porto wanted £25m for Quaresma but Moratti and Inter managed to get him for £15m, just before the closing of the transfer window.
